24 Weeks...

So, I guess I am technically 6 months pregnant today! I cannot believe how quickly this is going by. When I woke up yesterday, it was one of those days when I felt stretched to the max again. It seems like once every few weeks, I have a day where I feel like I grew a ton overnight and I feel really full all day long....except that I'm still hungry all the time!

If your former innie is now an outie, welcome to the club. Almost every expectant mom's pregnant belly button pops at some point as her swelling uterus pushes on everything in its path. Things should return to normal after delivery, though your navel (and some other parts of your body) might look a bit, well, stretched. Just think of it as one more badge of honor that only moms get to wear. As for your baby, she's about eight and a half inches long and one and a half pounds, gaining steadily at a rate of six ounces per week. Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle. By now, that fabulous face is almost fully formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. Is your baby a brunette, a blond, or a redhead? Actually, right now her locks are white since there's no pigment yet.

My belly button hasn't popped yet, but it's definitely stretching out and becoming flatter. I have a major innie, anyway, so if it ever pops, I'll be surprised.

Huzz and I got back on Tuesday from 5 days in the Seattle area with his parents and his brother (Erik) and his wife, Julie. For the weekend, we drove out to the Port Townsend area and stayed in a condo there.

It was really pretty, and I especially liked the incredibly tall pine trees that the northwest showed off.

I was happy to get back to cool Colorado because it was out-of-control hot in Seattle! They are having really warm weather right now (in the upper 90's) and with the humidity, I was a little bit miserable.

When I woke up this morning at Mom and Dad's, it was 50 degrees outside. Fifty. It's a little too chilly, but it's better than boiling hot.

Thank you for hosting us, Erik and Julie! Next time we come visit you, we'll have the little peanut with us!

23 Weeks...

My friend, Angie, commented on my last post about how a papaya can be bigger than a cantaloupe?

Truthfully, I don't know! It's just what they say! But, when I was finding a picture of a papaya to use, it looked to me like a large papaya is about the size of a football.

So, this week, I'll say Baby Bruce is about the size of a football. Pigskin. Although, it doesn't feel that big yet.

However, I am getting pretty excited for football season this year!!!
GOOOOOOO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now that I got that out of my system...

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and had a great old time! It's true. I really liked the nurse practitioner who met with me. And all the other nurses were really nice, too. The ultrasound tech had time to take me, so we got another ultrasound done and she spent almost an hour with me! Mom went with me, since Stephen has been out of town, and we managed to still not find out the gender. The tech just told us when to look away from the screen.

Everything looks great! I graciously gave the lab SIX vials of my very own blood for all of my bloodwork. Holy-moly. I had a massive headache for the rest of the day, which I'm not sure was due to all the blood loss, but I'm going to say it was!

I go back in 4 weeks for my next appointment, which Huzz gets to come to. They want to do another ultrasound then because they want to get a better look at Baby's heart and little feet. Baby Bruce was being a stinker and kept hiding these two things from us. I was super excited, though, because I got to hear the heartbeat, finally! They never did that for me in the big K. The nurse thought it sounded like a girl because the heartbeat was pretty fast. But supposedly, that's an old wive's tale now. And Mom told me that they thought my bro, Kyle, was a girl through her whole pregnancy because his heart rate was so fast, so when she delivered and they said "It's a boy!" she said, "Are you sure?"

No matter what, I'm sure I will be totally surprised and I'm really looking forward to it. It gives me a little extra something to labor for. Ha!

We are headed to the Pacific Northwest tonight to visit Erik and Julie. FIL & MIL are already out there and we're all going on vacation together for a few days. When I'll get back, I'll tell you where we went and post pics! Have a great rest of your week and weekend!

Week 22...

Yes, I said week 22. I skipped week 21. I thought I took a 21 week picture while we were in the midwest, but my camera says that I didn't. Oops! Well, anyways, I was a little bit bigger than my 20 week and a little bit smaller than this one. Ha!

Baby Bruce is now the size of a papaya. And it seems that it will be for the next few weeks, I guess. I don't know if the growth is slowing down, or what, but that's what I've found out!

As if an ever-expanding belly wasn't enough — now your feet are getting in on the act! That's because the pregnancy hormone relaxin, which loosens your pelvic ligaments when you're expecting, loosens every other ligament too — including the ones in your tootsies. In turn, the bones beneath those ligaments spread slightly, which results, for many women, in a half or whole shoe-size increase. So if you haven't already stashed away your stilettos, now's the time to bid farewell — at least for a while. Besides, you need sensible shoes to help you balance that big belly and your changing center of gravity. This week, your baby weighs in at a whopping pound and measures nearly eight inches, about the size of a small doll. But your doll is a living one who can now perceive light and dark. She can also hear your voice, your heartbeat, your gurgling stomach, and the whoosh-whoosh of blood circulating through your body.

I am feeling pretty good! I think I gained about 10 pounds while on vacation. I'm too scared to enter it on Babyfit to see if I'm still in my "normal" weight gain range because I'm pretty sure it's going to say I'm not!

Huzz is away for a few days on business, and I miss him a whole lot. However, I am sleeping really good. I have my body pillow right in the center of the bed and besides waking up every 3 hours, due to my full bladder, I sleep quite soundly! I have been teasing him because it seems he likes my Snoogle pillow, too, as I find him snuggled up to the other side of it often!

During week 21, Huzz and I went to bed one night and were reading. Usually when I lay down, I immediately start feeling the baby move around a lot, so I laid there with my hand on my belly and could feel it from the outside! I grabbed Huzz's hand right away and put it there and he could feel the little peanut rolling around and kicking, or whatever it was doing! It was so amazing. I was so happy that he can be more connected and involved with the life inside of me.

And already, I can see the little kicks from the outside, too! It's not very obvious, but if you look for it, you can see it. Well, I can. I'm not much into flashing my bare belly around for others to see. Ha!

So, that's 22 weeks!

I am going to my first doctor's appointment tomorrow morning in our new neighborhood, up north. My mom's going with me, since Huzz is out of town. I'm looking forward to getting some proper care!

20 Weeks...more than two weeks ago...

Okay, so I'm a little behind. And by a little behind, I mean a lot behind. But, things have been nonstop, crazy since we got back from the big K, which I'll tell you all about just as soon as I get around to it.

I'll start out with the preggo updates first.

On July 2nd, I was 20 weeks with child. And the little tyke was about the size of a cantaloupe!

Cantaloupe actually sounds like a tasty treat right now...

My brother-in-law, Erik, helped me out with my bump picture. I had him beat by a longshot!

We were in Okoboji when we took these shots. I'll tell about that later, like I said.

During this week, I was starting to consistently feel the baby move around and even kick a little, but couldn't feel it on the outside yet, so Stephen was left out of the fun. But not for long!

I was getting awesome sleep while on vacay because my new pregnancy body pillow is AMAZING (cue sing-song voice). I highly recommend getting one. I got the Snoogle pillow because it had the best reviews on amazon.

Although sleeping isn't so bad anymore, heartburn is increasing....

And before we left for two weeks of vacation, my mom and I hit up the Motherhood Maternity store at the mall and I spent some pretty pennies on some shirts, pants, shorts, and dresses that were much needed. My precious friend, Katrina, who is pregnant with twins and is due just a few days after me highly recommended their pants because of the super comfy waistband. I am so glad I listened to her! My new jeans and shorts will be around for a long time. Huzz is going to have to present some convincing arguments post-pregnancy to get me to stop wearing them!

Stay tuned for more fun....
